Animal Hoarding Rescue in Montgomery County NC
For Immediate Release - On the morning of August 26th, members of the
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA) assisted
Montgomery County Animal Services and local law enforcement with an
animal hoarding situation in Montgomery County. The team rescued nearly
20 dogs from unsanitary and hazardous conditions.
Animal Services team members worked tirelessly throughout this operation.
The team provided assistance with lifting and loading crates onto the
transport bus and ensuring the dogs could be moved quickly and safely.
Every action, big or small, made a difference in giving these animals a
second chance. Montgomery County Animal Services has coordinated the
removal of nearly 40 dogs from this residence.
All dogs were safely removed from the property and transported to animal
care facilities, where they are receiving the medical and behavioral
attention they need. Some dogs will be placed with foster families, while
others will remain in care until they are healthy enough to be adopted.
Public Health Director, Angela Callicutt, wants to extend our heartfelt
gratitude to the Star Police Department and the ASPCA for their invaluable
partnership in safeguarding the welfare of these animals. Animal hoarding is
a complex and serious issue that poses significant risks to both human and
animal health and safety. At Montgomery County Public Health and
Montgomery County Animal Services, our mission is to promote the wellbeing
of every resident in our community—including our four-legged
companions—so that all can lead healthy, fulfilling lives.”
The case remains under investigation, and further actions will be handled by
the Star Police Department. To see more information, please visit the
